@Dan Davis You dont need to live in New York or Los Angeles. Live in small town where the cost of living are much smaller. Live in Las Vegas or Houston where there are ample job opportunities ok-ish housing prices and you dont have to go back and forth for like 2 hours everyday. The problem is when everybody wants to live in NY or SF or LA because they think thats the only place to gain success. Great thing about this pandemic is it makes people realize, living in the most expensive cities are not worth it. If there are jobs elsewhere that could give u better quality of living, why even stay there?

@Meteor Knight Laws are easily transferable..how often did You work for foregin company , like Japanese, having to dance to their tune incl. social norms? And the weaker laws in target state, the easier it is - see f.e. French or Belgian colonies, where locals speak French loong after colonies got formally abolished.

Also employer may choose target place exactly because law enforcement works better than in States, or there is more social pressure to obey laws. F.e. noone picks France for call center - being verbally rude is socially acceptable there and they have long lunch breaks.

This means work gets negative value - people begin to pay to be able to work.

Without work one has no practice, cannot build resume and does not get references. Socially one gets isolated and rejected for being "freeloader" .

Just looking at how many insanely rich ppl work , ones wchich could slack off forever just relying on wealth they already have, incl. wealth of their families , tells You how important work is for people.

Cities do not provide space for any REAL work. Bullshit jobs do not count. Engineering, law, medicine and even writing - outsourced by AI. People get more and more grip that what they do in the city is ridiculed , it gives them no social standing anymore anywhere outside their bubbles.

Perhaps future will be in mobile cities - houses mass produced, standard sized like shipping containers, moved from place to place. "cities" themselves providing only infrastructure like flat land, water, sewer, electricity and roads.

Also chances are industry will move into sea - underwater factories. oceans have larger space, easier tranport, and anything in seawater weight less so easier for robots to operate - production halls become 3d instead of 2d. Time will show..

@Piotr Curious, The future to last is in removing all national boundaries and country names, and dividing the whole land in the planet into 5 hectare lots, one lot per family, no more nations, no more racial distinctions, no more boundaries except that of the 5 hectare lots, each one turned into mini paradise which will be a mixture of ranch and orchard (ranchard). Both Paradise and Canaan were mega-ranchards. In Genesis 1, the components of a ranchard describing Paradise are present: grass for the animals, animals for the fruitrees, fruitrees for man, man to rule over them all, etc. Furthermore, the description of Canaan as "a land flowing with milk (hence, livestock) and honey (hence, flowers and fruits)" refers to a ranchard. This is the future designed and concluded by the wise men who will be the ones left alive!
